Yet another clueless American producer who decides to butcher all things Japanese. The show in question is "I survived a Japanese gameshow" screened on Tuesday nights on Singapore free-to-air TV. While the games were based on actual Japanese variety shows, the costumes, backdrop plus the expressions of the host and audience are grossly exaggerated. The only one thing that redeems this show is the culture part where the winning team gets to experience Japanese culture (e.g. going to a Sumo wrestling stable or taking part in a samurai exhibition.)
However it is sad to see, for most parts of the show, how the average Japanese gameshow is badly misrepresented. This only serves to reinforce Americans' stereotype of Japanese culture.
